How Do I Paint My Plates?

For me painting is always a miracle and surprise! I never know what I will get in the end :)

The process of painting always starts from inspiration - this is the base of all my works! Inspiration helps me to create beautiful and harmonious patterns and to choose combination of colors.
When the inspiration comes, I begin to draw the sketch for the future plate.

When the sketch is finished, I think about the colors: which colors are the best for this design? I love unusual combinations, i.e. green + pink + light blue.

Now all preparations are done and I can begin to paint! To make the process of painting easier, first of all I draw the ornament on the plate with a pencil and then with paints.

When the painting is finished and dried, I cover the plate with acrylic varnish. 
The final step is to set a hanger on the opposite side of the plate and to sign new work! Voila! The plate is ready to ship!

Salut from Ancient Egypt!

Hi guys! How is your Friday going? We were travelling to Tzfat (Safed) on the north of Israel to catch some inspiration! We hope we'll have some time to share with your our best shots from there :)

And today we continue the ethnic theme!

This time we show you a geometric painting on decorative plate. The ornament is one of motives from Ancient Egypt. The plate looks absolutely unique thanks to combination of geometric minimalism and luxurious shining sparkles that cover some elements of painting!

NEW! Wooden plates!

Hi all! How are you? We hope that excellent!
Today we would like to show you our new branch of hand painted items for home decor. We already have ceramic plates in our Etsy shop and we decided to paint some wooden ones!
So now we have 2 wooden plates painted by hand. The 1st one has 30 cm in diameter and is blue and violet, the 2nd one has 20 cm and is brown and golden.

Gorgeous Paisley!

Paisley is one of our favourite motives! It has Persian routes and usually looks very rich and interesting.
What characterizes Paisley?
- Well, first of all it looks like a pickles! Sometimes Paisley motives are called Persian pickles. These "pickles" usually contain other motives, often floral.
- Usually Paisley is very bright or contrasting and reminds you Indian cultural traditions :)
- The motif consists of LOTS of details. That is really great as you can look over it again and again.

And here are some beautiful examples of Paisley motif.

How to make an ornament for a decorative plate?

Many of those who start to paint think that it's very difficult to create an ornament for decorative plate, jewelry box, doll or smth else. Usually it's not true :) And we are going to prove it!
There are lots of books about ornamental design  in the world. All you need to do is to find some pretty elements of your future decorative painting. We have such book and chose the chapter about Japanese art of XVIII - XIX centuries. This is what we found there:

This round decorative element of a Japanese folding screen is perfect for being a nice ornament on a decorative plate! We used all main elements and add several new elements along the edges (u'll see it a bit later :)

So now we have and ornament. What we should do next? Obviously - to choose colors! We took mint and violet as main colors and silver and white as additional colors.

Advice: to put the ornament on a plate use firstly a pensil! It will make your work much more easier!

And the result is:
